The Word of God

Praise Him For Who He Is!!!

Mark 8:29 says “And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.”

I was just sitting thinking about how people like to drop names of the famous people they know and how there is a big difference between knowing of a person and to know a person and this bought me back to this verse in Mark 8:29.  People can tell you about Jesus but it becomes something altogether different when you know Him for yourself.  The Bible says that we a compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses but it becomes personal when you know Him for yourself.  See I know Him as the binding and final authority in all things pertaining to my marriage.  I know Him as Jehovah Rapha, my healer.  I know Him as a Counselor and as a mender of broken things.  I know Him as a mind regulator because he continues to keep me sane in the midst of it all.  I know Him as my saving grace.  I know him as the rock that is higher than I.   I know Him as my intercessor and Immanuel because He is forever with me.

He is the life, the Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Son of Man, Only Begotten Son, Light of the World, Messiah, Savior, The Beloved, Bread of Life, King of the Jews, The Truth, Lamb of God, Creator, Mighty God, Jehovah Jireh,

Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Tsidkenu, El Shadi, Elohim, Rose of Sharon, Dayspring, Lily of the Valley, Bright & Morning Star, Wonderful, Alpha & Omega, Grace, Mercy, Strong Tower, High Tower, Consuming Fire, The wheel in the middle of a wheel, Big Brother, The Righteous Judge, just to name a few.  But who do YOU say He is?  You can only answer this question if you have a personal relationship with Him.  I just want to encourage you to get to know Jesus, intimately.  And praise Him for who He is in your life!!!  It is good to know people but NOTHING compares to you having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the one who died on the cross for your sins.  Now that is a name worth bragging about!!!

Joy In The Journey Weekly Devotional

“Lay It At Your Feet”

1 Peter 5:6~9 says ~ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Does anyone out here know that satan is busy 24/7 trying to take you out one way or another, especially if you are trying to do what God has called you to do.  Someone once said if satan is not bothering you it is because you are not bothering him.  As I was preparing for our Women’s Conference there were things that came up to try to distract me from my purpose but it was little minute things, nothing in comparison to what happened yesterday and I got the wind knocked out of me and I lost my balance and my footing for a minute.

I started walking in fear and I started doubting and God kept saying this what you are feeling is not from me.  I remember A.P. Barker talking about how Jesus rose up and covered the woman who was caught in adultery and how when the woman had an encounter with love, Jesus became her LORD.  And I say He’s my LORD but yet I was walking in doubt, I folded like a napkin.  But what I have come to realize is that God had been preparing me for what was to come because all of my devotionals that I was reading was talking about how to endure trials and tribulations and all of the songs that I have been listening to “At Your Feet”, “Going to Wait” and “Winner in me”, my RKI Class~ Faith Walk was all preparation for such a time as this.

I was reminded that I have to continually humble myself under Him and lay everything at His feet, my sanity, my heart, my thoughts, my pain, my fear, my family because it is too much for me to handle.  I also have to remember that there is NOTHING new under the sun and NOTHING takes Him by surprise.  It is all about the molding, shaping, stretching process that we all have to go through to be changed into His image, we can’t stay the same, and we should be constantly changing and growing and with growth comes growing pains.

I went to church last night for class and a Sister in Christ saw that I was upset and she hugged me and took me by the hand and prayed with me.  In that God showed me that it is so very important to surround yourself with people who will pray you through some situations.  I was sharing with my teacher last night some of the things that I was dealing with and she encouraged me and some of those same issues, she was going through too.  In that God showed me that I have to be vulnerable enough to open up and share my struggles so that I can encourage someone else.  What we go through is not just for us but it is for someone else.

I pray that this will encourage someone to let go of all of the stuff that you are carrying, God wants you to bring it to Him and LEAVE it there, He can handle it, YOU can’t.

Desperate for Jesus and I Ain't too proud to Beg

Mark 10:46~52 says ~ And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.  And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.  And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called.  And they call the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.  And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?  The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.  And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.  And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

We are such a needy people, we go from relationship to relationship begging for someone to love us, for someone to really see us, for someone to rescue us, we need help! Yet when it comes to God, we try to cover up everything that is broken as if He does not already know.  In these verses we see a blind man by the road side and before Jesus came he was begging for stuff, temporal stuff but something changed when he heard that Jesus was passing by.  There was something inside him that let him know, hey I had better start asking for what I really need and I heard that this man Jesus was the one to ask.  So he started calling out to Jesus and many tried to shut him up but he called even louder Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.  He kept begging and then it says Jesus stopped.  How many of us know that when Jesus steps into a situation that things cannot remain the same?  Next it says that they called him and it says that he stood and cast away his garment and came to Jesus.  How many of us know that when Jesus calls us sometimes we have to let go of stuff that we have been holding on to so tightly?  Next Jesus asked him what his need was.  We have to realize that we have a need or an issue that only Jesus himself can fix.  It goes back to how can God heal what we deny and how can He touch what we cover up.  Bartimaeus said that I may receive my sight and then Jesus saith go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole.  Then it said immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus.  Notice Jesus said go thy way and it says he followed Jesus in the way.

Are you too proud to beg for what you need?  Not what you want but what your real need is.  You know we go to Jesus for so many things but a lot of the time we don’t go to Him for what we really need.  Lord please change my heart and help me to love like you love, Lord help me to forgive the way that you have forgiven me, Lord save my family, Lord have mercy on me.  At your church when they open the doors of the church, does pride keep you sitting in your seat? When the choir is rendering praise unto the Lord, do we act like God has done nothing for us?  Are we to ashamed to lift holy hands and praise Him with the fruit of our lips?  Are we too afraid to cry out, JESUS, THOU SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON US?  You know I have spent far too much time begging for things that don’t really matter and now I am begging for more of HIM, I am desperate for Jesus and I ain’t too proud to beg.  Are you????

What Type of Fragrance Are You Leaving?

Philippians 4:18 says But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

Have you ever been driving along and suddenly this smell comes through your car ventilation that smells like rotten eggs or Sulphur?  Well I was driving home one evening and I was getting ready to cross this bridge and this odor came through my vents and it was AWFUL and I tried to hold my breath until I passed by this area and as I was passing by I heard the Lord say so clearly to me.  What type of fragrance are you leaving behind? I am not talking about being physically stinking but spiritually stinking.

In our day to day conversations with people, what type of fragrance are we leaving behind?  Would it be pleasing to the Lord?  When we have our girlfriend times do we spend more time talking about the Lord and all that He is doing in our lives or are we talking about other people.  On our jobs are we sharing the love of Christ or are we gossiping about someone.  In our homes are we sharing the love of Christ to family and friends or are we spreading mess?  What type of fragrance are we leaving?  Are we making situations better than they were or are we leaving them in worse shape.  On Sunday it is so easy for us to put on our Sunday Best and play the part of a Christian but it is so different to live it out in our day to day lives. God has placed people in our sphere of influence, whether it be a neighbor, a co-worker, children, church members and family members that He has entrusted to us.  Are we living up to His standards?  Would our relationships with these people be a sweet smelling odor to His nostrils?

I pray that this will encourage you as I encourage myself to be mindful of what we are leaving behind.  We can have on the top fragrances from Prada, Gucci, Eternity, Juicy Couture, DKNY, Victoria Secret, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Joop, Cool Water just to name a few and walk around thinking we are looking good and smelling good and still be a stench to God’s nostrils.

Prayer:

Most Gracious Father,

I come to you right now first thanking you for who you are and what you have done.  Thanking you for another chance to get it right.  Thanking you for your grace and mercy. Lord I don’t want to be a stench to your nostrils but a sweet smelling odor.  Change me O Lord and I shall be changed, wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.  Please order my steps and order my conversations that they be pleasing in your sight.  Lord as I interact with my brothers and sisters in Christ, help me to impact for your kingdom’s sake and may I always leave having encouraged and having been encouraged.  Lord only what I do for you will last.  Help me to keep heaven in view as I live down here and help me to live in such a way that I bring no shame to your name.

In Jesus name…. Amen

Look At What God Did

Acts 17:28 says For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

I Corinthians 1:31 says That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

I went to a college graduation a couple of weeks ago at Austin Peay State University and as I was watching all of the graduates march in, there were some with their cords and tassel that signified if they were graduating as Cum Laude, Summa, or Magna.  And there were those who had decorated their caps with various things such as where they were heading next, the sorority/fraternity affiliations, etc.  But there was one cap that was decorated that really caught my attention even in the midst of all of the speakers who gave great speeches but this particular cap really made me stop and think.  This lady’s cap said “LOOK AT WHAT GOD DID”.  Now I am sure that her parents played a part in getting her where she was that day and she had a lot to do with it as well but she gave credit and honor where it was due, she said “LOOK AT WHAT GOD DID”.  And I thought to myself, this is what it all comes down to, us pointing people to Christ.  I am not sure how many people caught that significance that day but I am so glad that I did.

The Bible says that in him we live, and move, and have our being because we are His offspring.  That means that if there is anything good in us, it is all because of Him working in us.  Remember the Bible says that in our flesh dwelleth no good thing.  Anything that we accomplish here is because He gives us the ability to do so and so often when we accomplish anything worthwhile, we tend to become glory hogs instead of giving Him the credit.  The Bible reminds us to let him that glorieth, glory in the Lord.  If we keep this in focus, we won’t become prideful and arrogant but we will stay humble.  Remember the Bible also says that He resists the proud and gives grace unto the humble.  How many of us need more of His grace???  I know I do!!!  It reminds me of the four and twenty elders in Revelations 4:10~11 that says The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  So I just want to encourage you and as I encourage myself to keep heaven in our view, to make sure that we are not pointing people to ourselves but that we are pointing them to Christ and telling them “LOOK AT WHAT GOD DID”.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that you are God and I am not.  Thank You that You are merciful and mighty to save.  Thank You that You don’t give us what we deserve but You look past all of our faults and You supply our needs.  Thank You that You are sovereign and You make no mistakes, You never fail.  Lord forgive me for all of my sins, even the hidden ones.  Help me to confess and repent continually.  Lord remove everything in me that does not glorify You, change me O Lord.  May I always remember that all glory and honour belongs to You!  May I always point people to the work done on the cross for our sakes but for Your glory!!!  Lord increase in me that I may decrease! Thank You for the work that You are doing in me!

In Jesus name…Amen!!!

“Armed & Dangerous”

Ephesians 6:10-19 says Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

How many of us know that we are in a WAR and it is not a physical war that we can see with our eyes but it is a spiritual war.  Therefore we can’t fight in a spiritual war with carnal weapons but we have to use spiritual weapons because spiritual weapons have divine power.  God has supplied us with everything that we need to go into battle but if we are not staying in His word, if we are not crying out to Him in prayer, we will enter into this battle unprepared.  The armour of God is something that we keep on every day, it should NEVER be taken off because trust me when I say the enemy is watching.  He is looking for the tiniest crack in our armour, that little bit of sin that we let in and then it runs rampant.  We have to have our loins girded in truth and we know that God’s word is truth, not man’s opinion, not man’s advice but God’s word alone.  Are we walking in God’s truth?  Next is the breastplate of righteousness, this protects our heart because remember it is deceitful and desperately wicked.  Only God can take our stony heart and give us a heart of flesh, and He gives us his righteousness. Next, having our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.  What are we carrying to other people and what type of fragrance are we leaving behind?  Are we carrying the Gospel or the gossip?  Is our fragrance pleasing and sweet smelling or is it a stench to the nostrils?

Next is the shield of faith to quench all of the fiery darts that the enemy is constantly throwing at us.  And we know that faith is I BELIEVE GOD.  If we are putting our trust in anything other than God, we have no shield, no protection.  Next is the helmet of salvation.  The Bible tells us to let this mind be in us which was also in Christ Jesus and the Bible also tells us to be constantly renewing our minds.  That means every thought that the enemy brings to us, we don’t have to accept it, God has given us that power, to cast it down and bring it into the obedience of Christ.  And last but certainly not least, taking the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.  We are carrying precious seed in us when we put the word of God in us, yes we apply it to ourselves first but this Good News was meant to be shared, taken to the highways and bi-ways, into the prisons, into our schools, into our homes because it is life giving and life sustaining.  Next we are to be praying always in the Spirit, which means our lives should be a walking, living prayer, for a day hemmed in prayer seldom comes unraveled.  We are armed and dangerous and the sad part is that when trouble comes we quickly forget what weapons we have and we try to fight with all of the wrong weapons.  We forget that we have the living word living within us, we forget that we stand not in our own power but in the power of His might.  We forgot that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strongholds.  We are supposed to be soldiers in the army of the Lord, equipped for battle.  So if you forgot your weapons today, go back and get them and the next time the enemy comes knocking and trust me, he will, let him know that you are Armed and Dangerous with the Word of God, let him know that YOU are a child of the Most High God and remind him that NOT ONE of God's words will return to Him void but IT WILL ACCOMPLISH EVERYTHING THAT HE SENT IT TO DO FOR HE WATCHES OVER HIS WORD TO PERFORM IT!!!

God Has Not Moved
Isaiah 59:1~3 says Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.  For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
We often hear people saying and may even at some point say ourselves that God does not speak to us or that He does not hear our prayers or that God is distant from us and when that happens, we need to CHECK OUR SIN.  The Bible clearly says that sin separates us from God.  This is why confessional living is a must.  That we continuously go to God and confess our sins and even ask Him to show us any hidden sin that we have in us.  You know those secret thoughts that you think no one knows about or those little side bar conversatio   ns that we have and preface it with God forgive me but I just have to say this……  Sin is sin and we have to stop self-justifying and winking at it.  We can fool each other all day everyday but at the end of the day we know we are wrong and God is not pleased.  He came to set the captives free and sin was our captor but thanks be to God, He sent His Son, Jesus who died to set us free.  We are free to serve and worship Him with no guilt; that does not mean that we are free to continue in sin, God forbid.  Galatians 5:1 says Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.  Sin brings condemnation but Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  So let me ask you this, if you are not covered by the blood of Jesus, who is covering YOU????
Sin will take you further than you ever intended to go, it will keep you longer than you ever intended to stay and it will cost you more than you ever intended to pay. The Bible says in John 10:10 that The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  That abundant life can only be found by having a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.  Confess your sin with a sorrowful heart and then turn from it and turn to Christ.  Deuteronomy 2:3 says Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn northward.  Sin may give you something to do but it gets you nowhere fast but to the pit.  It is time to make a change and not be like the dog that keeps returning to what it has thrown up.  Aren’t you tired of being bound, I know I am.  I am free in Christ Jesus because His words says that whom the Son sets free is free indeed.  So what is holding you captive?  I encourage you as I encourage myself to give that mess to the Lord and be FREE!!!!  God has not moved, He is still a very present Help, draw nigh to Him and He will draw nigh to you!!  Be Free My Brothers & Sisters, Be Free!!!!  HALLELUJAH!!!  In His Hands....Elder Donna Marsh

Practicing the Presence:  Emmanuel, God is with us

Matthew 1:23 says ~ Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Have you ever just really considered what that really means?  God is with us in our day to day lives.  He is with us when we are watching T.V.  Would that change what shows we watch?  He is with us in our conversations.  Would that change what we say and how we say it?  He is with us in our relationships.  Would that change how we relate to one another?  He is with us on our jobs.  Would that change how we perform on our jobs?  He is with us when we are sitting in church.  Would that change how we worship and how we interact with our brothers and sisters in Christ?  He is with us in our cars.  Would that change what we listen to and how we interact with other drivers?  He is with us in our homes.  Would that change what we allow to come into our homes and would that change how we treat the ones who we are supposed to love and care for?

Practicing the Presence of God is not just something we do on Wednesday night at Bible Study or on Sunday when we are at church but it is a 24/7, 365 days a year presence.  If we truly understood that then that would change what we do, what we say, where we go and how we do what we do.  You CAN NOT be in God’s presence and spend time with Him and remain the same.  Yes, He wants us to come as we are but He has no intention of letting us stay that way.  He is changing us from strength to strength and from glory to glory.  How are we supposed to bear fruit without being pruned?  We are supposed to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service, our reasonable act of worship.  We are no longer our own but we are His.  2 Corinthians 5:14 says For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:  And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.  This means we have some dying to do, dying to self and our selfishness. Romans 12:2 says And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.  God is doing a new thing, don’t you want to see it?  It is springing forth.  There is a song by Bishop Paul Morton that says “Lord, whatever you’re doing in this season, please don’t do it without me.  Lord if you’re blessing, blessing in this season, please don’t do it without me.  Lord, if you’re healing, healing in this season, please don’t do it without me.”  I want to see His hand at work all around me and in me and I know that my biggest hindrance is ME!!!  So I just want to encourage you as I encourage myself to walk circumspectly redeeming the time because GOD IS WITH US!!!

Broken into Beautiful

Isaiah 61:1~3 says "The Spirit of the LORD GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."

Jeremiah 18:1~6 says "The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.  Then I went down to the Potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter:  so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.  Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter?  saith the LORD.  Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel."

Psalm 34:18 says "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

You know we always go to God and ask Him to break strongholds that we have in our lives but we never want to be broken.  All throughout the Bible we see how God uses broken people for our good and for His glory.  When you look at David, broken, the woman with the issue of blood, broken, the woman at the well, broken, the woman caught in adultery, broken and the list can go on.  And God could have turned his back on each one of them but instead he loved them to himself.  In all their brokenness, once they gave the pieces to Him, He restored them and gave them beauty for all of their ashes and He can do the same thing for us today.  We have gotten in the habit of wearing all of these masks to try to hide our pain and our shame but God sees it and He still loves us. But until we come broken before Him with Godly sorrow we will continue to walk through this life broken and trying to fill our brokenness with all manner of things, when God sent His Son to set us free.  We no longer have to walk around in bondage.  God can use all of our brokenness and turn it into a beautiful ministry.  I know that He has done that for me.  Once I started confessing my mess and put my life in His Hands, my life has forever changed.  There is so much liberty in Christ Jesus, if only we would taste and see.  I found out in my brokenness that my relationship with Christ became that much sweeter because the Bible says that He is close to those who are of a broken heart and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.  God did not bring you all this way to leave you.  He truly is the potter and He only wants to put you back together again.  Aren't you glad about that? Aren't you glad that He is not like the world because the world likes to discount broken things and even throw them away but God likes to restore broken things and make them better than they were before.  So I just want to encourage you to check into God's exchange rate, you give Him all of your brokenness in exchange for His beauty!!!  Now we are talking about an EXTREME MAKEOVER!!!!  To God be the glory.

The Three Battles by Alex Kendrick

I was looking at the trailer again for the new movie coming out on August 28, called "The War Room - Prayer is a Powerful Weapon" and then I saw this video clip of one of the writers/producers of the movie, Alex Kendrick from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany Georgia.  A couple of years ago, Chris & I went to Albany GA to the ReFresh Conference that Sherwood has every year and we got a chance to meet Alex and talk with him and He is such a humble man and everything that they have accomplished at Sherwood, he gives all the glory to the Lord.  So when I listened to this video, everything that he is talking about is so very relevant right now and I just wanted to share it with you all.  I pray that it will encourage you as it has encouraged me.  We are in a spiritual warfare but if we are not clean, do our prayers go any further than the ceiling, are they a stench to His nostrils?  Clean hearts and clean hands is my prayer, not only for me but for the body of believers.

How can we be affective if our hearts are not right, if we are not right before God.  Are we confessing always?  2 Chronicles 7:14 says "If my people who are called by name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal the land.  God has and will always keep His part of the covenant but we break it so easily,  Just like he warned the churches in Revelations, He is still warning us today and I am praying and begging Him not to remove our candlestick.

The Bible says that we are to be on one accord, to have singleness of heart.  The Bible also says to let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.  If we truly got on one accord and started praying and believing God for real and doing things the way He wants us to and not according to our own agendas, pride and egos.  Do you realize what AMAZING things that HE could do through us
because of our obedience to Him.  He said in His word that we would do even greater works but how can we if we are not clean, not praying, not loving and not in our position.  We serve God who specializes in the IMPOSSIBLE, there is NOTHING too hard for Him.  This thing is so much bigger than us, than the local church that we attend, it is so much greater.  What are we doing?

The Bible says that He will withhold no good thing from those who walk upright.  We want the privileges but we don't want the struggle.  No cross, no crown.  It is time for us to get out of God's way and do what He says do.  This is not my ministry and it is not your ministry but it is God's ministry.  We are all members of the same body.  God does not care about our titles, He cares about our hearts and what we are doing to further His kingdom.  God has placed on Pastor's heart this year to grow our body and I am believing God for that and partnering with Pastor in prayer for
that.  The Bible tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. That means if we are seeking anything other than God first, everything else will not work. Every Sunday Pastor preaches his heart out to make sure that when he has to give an account for us, he can tell the Lord, yes I told them and prayerfully that he can do it with JOY. We have no excuse and we have to stop making excuses.  It all has to start with us individually.  We have to stop looking around at what every one else is doing or is not doing and take a look in the mirror and ask the question, Lord am I doing what you told me to do?  Am I praying like I am suppose, am I studying the Word like I am suppose to, Am I serving like I am suppose to, Am I attending Bible Study and Worship service like I am suppose to.  LORD have mercy on us all and help us to do this YOUR way!!!!

Below is a video as well as the links for the new movie, I pray that it will encourage you to get your house in order because it cut me up and encouraged me at the same time.  Remember PRAYER is a powerful weapon but only if YOU use it.  God bless

John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Romans 5:8 says “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
I don’t know why we are so surprised by the pains of this life.  God told us in His word that in this world we would have trials and tribulations but He also told us to be of good cheer for He has overcome the world and He has given that same power to us.  People in this world are going to hurt you and that includes family members too.  And you are going to hurt people as well, this is a part of the process and none of us can escape it.  Look at the pain that God went through when He had to turn His back on His Son because of our sin.  And look at the pain that Jesus had to endure to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins.  Love costs and love hurts.  The very people that were saying crucify him, crucify him, were the same people that he hung, bled and died on the cross for, love costs, love hurts.  We grieve the Lord every time we disobey Him and yet He still loves us, love costs, love hurts.  It costs to love someone because you have to give of yourself and let go of your pride and sometimes love is returned and sometimes it is not.  And that is how God loves us, He keeps extending more love and more grace and there are times when we accept His love and there are times when we reject his love and when we reject his love, that grieves Him.

Remember the world's definition of love and the biblical definition are two different things.  The Biblical love  is that your main desire is to see people saved which means you have to give of yourself, you have to sacrifice some things but the world's love is everyone out for themselves, looking out for #1 and I believe that is why there are so many divorces because people are looking for that touchy feely kind of love that does not last.  We are looking for people to fix us and to complete us when ONLY GOD can do that.  In the simplest of terms, we are looking for LOVE in all the wrong places.  So I encourage you as I encourage myself to set your affections on high.  I am in love under new management, someone very special came into my life and nobody can take His place, He filled the empty space.  To God be the Glory!!

The War Room - Prayer Works

Matthew 6:6 says: But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

How many of you know that we are in a spiritual war?  The Bible says in Ephesians 6:12-13 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand, STAND.  Do you know that one of the most POWERFUL weapons that we possess, many of us don't even use it and that is the power of PRAYER and the power comes from the one that we pray to.

So often we use prayer as a last resort when it should be our first line of defense.  Our marriages should be covered in prayer, our children should be covered in prayer, our churches should be covered in prayer, our relationships should be covered in prayer, our jobs should be covered in prayer, our lives should be a walking, talking, living, breathing testifying prayer.  We should be praying when we first open our eyes, we should be praying throughout our day, we should close each day in prayer.  No prayer, no power, more prayer, more power. God loves to hear from His children and prayer is a privilege and an honor.  We fight our greatest battles on our knees in the spiritual realm.  I for one know what prayer can do because someone was praying for me when I was out there doing everything that I was big and bad enough to do, when I did not have enough sense to even pray for myself.  Through prayer I have seen chains being broken off of people, I have seen marriages restored, I have seen families restored, I have seen people delivered from drugs and alcohol, I have seen wayward children come back home.  The Bible says that the prayers of the righteous availeth much.  Do you know how much power there would be in our churches if we all spent more time in earnest prayer, not just drive by prayer on Sundays but I am talking about spending time on our faces before the LORD crying out to ask Him to heal our land.  The Bible says that eyes have not seen neither have ears heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for them who love Him.  It is time to go to war on our knees and to launch a Holy Ghost take over and take back everything that the devil has stolen from us.  Our marriages don't belong to him, our children don't belong to him, our families don't belong to him and we are taking it all back in the name of Jesus.  It is time for us to press into the throne room of God and to assault the gates of hell.  We are joint-heirs with Christ and it is time for us to truly start praying without ceasing and watch God work on our behalf to do the impossible!!!

Ready, Set, Grow!

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John 1:9)KJV

Spiritual growth won’t happen unless you’re honest with God and yourself.  It’s tempting to look at the evil in the world and justify your own sin.  “Well, I’m not a murderer. I’ve never cheated on my taxes.  I’m basically a good honest person.” That may be true…but you’re a good, honest person who is not without sin.

The first step in spiritual growth is recognizing and admitting to yourself that you sin….every day.  The next step is confessing that sin and asking for God’s forgiveness.  Now your heart is a clean slate on which God can begin His amazing work. (Taken from One Minute Devotions for Women by Carolyn Larsen).

So I encourage you to go to God and get clean and allow Him to cover you in His precious blood.  He truly is a stain lifter!!!

What God Has Started, He Will Finish

Philippians 1:6 says Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Did you know that when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, He began a work in you?  Well He has and we know that Jesus does not make any mistakes.  So when He began that work in you, He did not say, oops, wait a minute a messed up.  He knows what He is doing and He does not waste anything.  When God looked at creation and all that He had made, He said it was GOOD!!!  You are part of His creation as well so therefore you are GOOD!  Not that you would always do good because He knows that we are a messed up people and we need His grace and mercy every second, every minute, every hour of every day.  So He keeps us on the potter’s wheel, shaping and molding us into the image of His Son, not man.  And yes sometimes that shaping causes us pain and sorrow but He is working something far greater in us than our natural eyes can see.  He has got to remove some bitterness, some backbiting, some lust, some greed, some unforgiveness, some pride, all those things that our flesh wants to hold on to because we have fed some of these things for so long but God is saying let it go, I got you.  You know we spend so much time on our outside appearance that we neglect what is really important and that is our heart for out of it flow the issues of life.  And remember the Bible says that our heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, who can know it but God.  So it is time to stop kicking against the pricks and surrender it all to Him.  We are all works in progress and when God gets through we are all going to be glorious masterpieces by the greatest designer.

So I encourage you as I encourage myself, be still and know that your change is coming and endure like a good soldier!  Without any pain, how would we ever grow and change.  We are not suppose to stay the way that we are but we are being continuously transformed to SHINE for God.  Stay close to Him, spend time at His feet and on your face before the Lord and be confident of the work that He is doing in YOU!!!

Focused, Determined, Secure

Psalm 57:7 says My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Philippians 3:14 says I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:35~39 says Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Are you focused, determined and secure?  The answer to the first part of the question, are you focused, will determine the rest.  If you are focused?  What are you focused on?  If our main focus is not on Jesus Christ, then we won’t be determined and we can’t be secure.  Matthew 6:33 says But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Is our heart permanently fixed on God or are we too busy looking around and looking out for self?  Is our heart’s desire that all come to Christ and none be lost?  The harvest is truly ripe and the laborers are few.  When troubles come do we give up or do we press toward the mark and say Lord nevertheless, I will trust you.  Do we believe what God says in His word when He says that NOTHING can separate us from His love IF we are in Christ Jesus?  All of our foolishness, and back stepping and back stabbing can’t separate us from His love.  He will NEVER turn His back on us like we turn our backs on Him.  You tell me, who else can guarantee a love like that?  So I ask you again, are you focused, determined and secure?  This is a question that you have to settle between you and the Lord because if you are not rooted and grounded in the Lord and His word, you are like a ship without a sail being led to and fro with no true direction.  So I encourage you as I encourage myself to make sure you have the right answer to this question.  The Bible says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.  This is the acceptable day.  My Pastor always says if you want to play with something, play with a toy but don’t play with God.  The day is fast approaching when He shall return for his bride (the church).  I pray that we have our houses in order, settle this question today!!!!

Be You On Purpose

Psalm 139:14 says “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well”.

On my bathroom mirror I have the following posted “In a world where you can be anything, be yourself”.  It is so easy for us to lose our identities if we are not rooted and grounded in the Word of God.  The world is constantly telling us how we should look, how we should feel, what we should buy, what we should eat, how we are to relate to one another and so on and everything that it says is contradictory to the Word of God.  The Bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and marvelous are His works.  So why do we spend so much time looking around and comparing ourselves?  Do we not realize that when we do that we are insulting God because we are not trusting Him and the work that He is doing within us.  If we are so busy looking around and comparing ourselves to others we are going to miss out on everything that the Lord has for us.  God is constantly saying be still I am working something in you but we keep saying but God, I want, I want.

God did not create us in each other’s image but we were created in His image.  God does not make any mistakes and that means when He created you, He knew everything about your past, present and your future, every mistake, every setback, every trial, every tribulation, every decision that you will ever make, He knows.  Let God be your measure and know who you are in Christ.  You are a child of the Most High King, you are joint-heirs with Christ, you are loved, you are chosen and you are adopted, you are an overcomer, you are a chosen generation and a royal priesthood.  Please don’t waste another minute, trying to fit into anyone else’s mold but BE YOU ON PURPOSE, no one else fits your shoe.  You are an original, there is no one else like you and that is how God intended it to be.  My prayer is that you will walk in your God given purpose!!!

True Worshipper

John 4:23~24 says “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

What does it mean to truly worship God?  It means that all of your focus and all of your efforts are pointed toward Him.  He desires our full attention.  He desires that we abide in Him, not do hit and runs.  Only when we seek God in worship will we find our true purpose in life and begin to understand why we are here.  And only then can we actually begin to see that purpose realized.  Until we make Praise & Worship a lifestyle, we are going to miss out on all God has for us (Taken from The Prayer That Changes Everything by Stormie Omartian).  I for one do not want to miss out on anything God has for me, I NEED HIM.  It is my desire to please Him and not to grieve Him.  It is my desire to always be thankful unto Him and to bless His holy name.  I know where I could have been and where I should have been but it is ONLY because of His grace and mercy that I am yet here.  I know how He has kept me from dangers seen and unseen and how He has blocked stuff in my life.  I know how He has kept my mind and healed my broken heart.  I know how He has healed my body and told me to run on.  I know how He has picked me up so many times and continues to tell me how much He loves me!!!!  In spite of me and all of my flaws, who would not want to worship a God like that?  Worship should not be based upon how you feel but your worship should be because God is good.  God is good when He says yes and God is still good if He says no.  Worship is a choice and even if you don’t do it, He is still worthy.  Wess Morgan has a song titled “I Choose To Worship” and the very first time I heard that song, I just started crying because I got convicted because I was not worshipping God because of who He is but I would do it based on how I was feeling that day, God forbid.  He deserves ALL of my worship and all of my praise, adoration and glory belongs to Him ALWAYS!!!!  When I look at everything Job went through and yet the first thing he chose to do was WORSHIP!!!  You know when you worship the Lord, chains start breaking, strongholds start coming down, walls start coming down.  Job said the Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.  Here recently I have been really just listening to Praise & Worship songs and on Saturday I was spending some alone time with the Lord and my heart was heavy and He said you have been doing all these things but you have not really spent some quality time with me in worship and the flood gates burst and I fell on my face just in worship and thanksgiving.  It was a breaking process and a cleansing process.  Worship has to be a lifestyle and when it is, your worship truly does turn into the prayer that changes everything.  Please don’t miss out on everything that God has for you!!!  From this day on worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth!!!
